Cannes. Where are the women?
Last year was a stunner, 4 films directed by women were screened in competition at the Cannes Film Festival. That’s what makes this year’s goose egg so surprising. In fact, only three times since the year 2000 has the world’s most important film festival not had a film directed (or co-directed) by a woman in competition.
